I found this little book from 1965 in a charity shop. It's got some great cutaway drawings of a Ford Anglia, a Hillman Minx and an original Mini. Most of the trusted British car manufacturers it recommends no longer exist, or are no longer British. But it's surprising how much remains to same – such as the basic method of propelling the thing forwards. We should have taken some of the advice, for example 'Don't be stampeded into buying a car, take the bus or train for a couple of weeks longer.' |
