It's not easy being Victoria Beckham. Snappers constantly yell at her to smile, but I know why she doesn't - she looks goofy. They write that she looks thin or tired. And I'm not surprised, being a mum of four, keeping one of the world's most famous men in hand, flying backwards and forwards to sort out her extremely successful clothing line, which recently gained a younger sub-brand. It's amazing she gets time to sleep, let alone get involved in marketing Range Rovers. The Range Rover Evoke special edition with Victoria Beckham was unveiled at the Auto China Expo in Beijing, which says a lot about how the world has changed since the girls wanted 'zigazig ah' Her motto for the clothing is "If it's wrong for my wardrobe, it's wrong for the brand." (Along with "If the legs are out, put the tits away.") Clearly she's thought the same way for the car. You can easily imagine her slithering down from the soft leather seats in her killer heels, pouting with pleasure she gives it an admiring backward glance. She says she was inspired by luxury yachts and favourite cars. The seats are soft tan leather and she added deep-pile mohair mats to recreate the feeling of luxury carpets in her father's Roller. (The one that landed her with the nickname 'posh'). The exterior is stealth grey, but rose gold accents on the 20in gloss black alloy wheels look like spinning golden bands when the car is in motion, and there are rose gold-plated highlights on the dash. Just 200 will be built Jaguar Land Rover's Halewood factory on Merseyside and will sell for £80,000 each. |

The Guild of Motoring Writers ran a story about my blog in their newsletter recently. The only member to follow me on Twitter so far is another woman - funny that.
The lovely Sue Baker, ex-Top Gear, ex-motoring correspondent for the Observer, was one of my inspirations and we've since driven together on car launches. I'm now following her back on @carscribe I'm always pleased to hear about how other women love their cars, enjoy driving and are delighted with the freedom it brings them. I joined a singing group last week and found myself chatting about motors to Pauline and Liz. Pauline adores her MX-5 (lucky thing). Liz has a Citroen Berlingo because she's gradually moving her life down to Spain, and it suits her just fine.
Breda loves her new VW up! Breda Mostert contacted the womandriverblog asking whether to buy a second-hand Kia Ceed, Ford Focus etc. Having heard about her budget and driving needs, I said none of the above – get a new VW up! on sale from £7,995. She did, although spending £11,400 including VAT. Here’s what she had to say: “This little baby is now 24 hours old. We picked her up from the Drift Bridge Garage in Epsom where our salesperson Desiree was a bit of a star. I think she was as excited as we were. I still haven't seen another one on the road, but apparently sales have picked up and other customers are on the waiting list, we were lucky to have been early enough to order one which was ready to drive away just a week later. My husband Andre and I took it for a real christening drive, through Kent to Hastings and then Rye, giving it a good test on motorway and country roads. I've also taken it to show off to my running club and I reckon a few other people were impressed by what seems like a bargain. VW’s complimentary one-week’s insurance was a bonus as that gives me time to get sorted. As their insurance quote is looking quite favourable, I think that means no Alexander the meerkat for us! "Thanks for the hot tip I don’t think I would have considered a city car thinking it would be too small for both Mr M's comfort as a passenger or zippy enough for motorway driving, but it is just fine and dandy for both. For such a small car the interior is very roomy and she handles really well on the road, even on a busy M25.”
I had to wait a while at the garage this morning. They had two piles of mags: Top Gear for the men, Cosmo for the ladies. I found myself reading a story about things the lads wished their girlfriends would do in bed. One wanted her to gag him with her thong. But only if it was clean.
