Alice Morgan turned up to save DCI John Luther's neck in the finale of the fantastic and ludicrous Luther Series III, driving a classic Jensen and looking as if she'd stepped out from an episode of The Avengers. So who would win in a glam-girl off, Alice or Emma?

Named for her M (man) Appeal, Mrs Peel followed the arse-kicking Cathy Gale (Honor Blackman). Always ready to drop her fencing blade and join Steed when 'we're needed'.

Style
Only she could make Crimplene look so good. Started in black leather, went stretchy with zips as the series progressed to colour. Occasional fetish-wear if absolutely essential to the plot

Wheels
Drove gorgeous Lotus Elan and even slept in it occasionally. Remarkably, it always started first time

Fight
Spectacularly good at high kicking and karate chops. Uses a gun to open campagne bottles. Tends not to kill people

Tease factor
6 she’s a flirt, not a tease, we all know she and Steed have had a thing

A great partner?
Only if you like rescuing people. Emma had an unfortunate tendency to get caught and tied up in some imaginative way

Alice Morgan (Ruth Wilson)
Luther

Lizzie Borden meets Hannibal Lecter, sees human existence as insignificant in the grand scheme of things. Has a tendency to turn up exactly when you're expecting her, ready to steal the scene.

Style
Can be a little down at heel, even seen in a hoodie, but scrubs up well. Means business in her Barbour International jacket and full-length boots made for strutting. Then there was that gas mask…

Wheels
Recently roared up in a classic Jensen FF - about as discreet as wearing those sunglasses in the snow

Fight
Not a hand-to-hand brawler, prefers a concealed sharp object, or a nice big gun. A bullet and a nail will do, though. Quite Zen

Tease factor
9 she hopes Luther will eventually just stop being so damned good

A great partner?
Yes, Alice will come to your rescue and with appropriate wise cracks. But if she gets bored with you, you won't even know why you're dead
