I just love this poster by friend of the blog Joe Pepitone for the AACA's exhibition Motoring Mysteries of the Far East. As Hemmings says, the Antique Automobile Club of America may not be the first organization that comes to mind when you think of celebrating influential Asian cars and motorcycles, as well as those rarely seen ones from behind the Iron Curtain, but they're obviously an inclusive bunch. I've always loved classic robots, from the mean lady robot in Metropolis to Robbie in Forbidden Planet, and I've got a few tin robot toys, so this poster is right up my street. The cars look intriguing, too. The museum is looking for more, so, if you can help, with cars and trucks, tuk tuks and scooters from India, Russia, Korea, Japan and all regions in between from the early days to the mid-1980s, please get in touch. The exhibition opens 16 May until 14 September. For inquiries concerning display items, please contact Executive Director Mark Lizewskie at 717-566-7100 x102 or [email protected] |
